When I think of Benetton I think of "shocking" magazine ads featuring children dying in poverty in third world countries (and whatnot). I also think of the 1980s when Benetton sweaters were briefly de rigueur for the young and preppy. In fact, their current, non-shocking ad campaign looks exactly like the ads they were running back in 1985 when there was still a Benneton store in my backwater town. So we get pretty people in bright, happy clothes photographed against a white background. What's not to like, especially when the pretty people are this pretty?
