J.D. Salinger's death means that after all these years Catcher In The Rye will almost certainly be made into a movie. The question that springs to my mind is: who will play Holden Caulfield? I'm not exactly endorsing this choice, but assuming they (whoever they are) don't go with a complete unknown, and it happens sooner rather than later, I would not be a bit surprised to see Logan Lerman in the role. At the risk of sounding like a total cliché, Catcher In The Rye is one of my favorite books, and I think that it's essentially unfilmable. Salinger (obviously) thought so too, and you can see why he thought so here.

A recent email from our friend and reader Uncle Mame set me off on and internet-wide search for smokin' hot Brazilian actor/model Romulo Arantes. Romulo may not be as completely perfect as his countryman Francisco Lachowski, but he's darn close, don't you think? There must be something in the water down there in Brazil.

In addition to corn, one of the things we grow in Iowa is beautiful boys. Case in point: Ryan Bertroche of Bettendorf (that's one of the Quad Cities, in case you didn't know), who hit the big time last year with, among other things, this campaign for Frankie Morello with fellow lovelies Simon Nessman and Ryan Taylor (and some girl). And to think, he was just a half-an-hour drive from me and I never stalked him.
