Ginger Power

GENERATION Y by Joost Vandebrug from Wonderland Magazine on Vimeo.

It occurs to me that it is a very recent occurrence in the United States for people with red hair to be called "gingers."  I believe the usage first crossed the Atlantic with  the Spice Girls and Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell.  Those with long memories may recall that when the Spice Girls were first marketed in the USA, she was usually referred to as "Sexy Spice" so as not to confuse befuddled Americans into thinking she was a common cooking ingredient.  Long before the Spice Girls came along we had Ginger Grant, the sexpot from Gilligan's Island,  but I don't think many people associated her name with her hair color.  Now, the use of ginger to denote people with red hair is fairly common in America, as evidenced by Emma's Ginger Supremacist parents on this week's episode of Glee.

But enough of this twaddle.  We came here to ogle this lovely, and supremely ginger, Dutch model named Tijn Elbers.  I've seen a few pictures  of him floating around the internet in the past, but I only recently found out who he is.  Remarkable fellow, Tjin Elbers. Beautiful plumage.

14 gorgeous pictures after the jump.

What an exceedingly lovely young man!

As for gingers, yonks ago when I was a wee lad, I had the sweetest little henna-colored dog. Her name was Ginger.

This preceeded the Spice Girls by (cough) some decades.
