Farewell, Fairy Godmother

Celeste Holm was a star on Broadway, and an Academy Award winning actress, but this is how I first encountered her, as The Fairy Godmother to Lesley Ann Warren's eponymous waif in the 1965 television presentation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, which CBS carted out approximately once a year when I was a youngster. She died yesterday after a long and varied career, which included the role of Ado Annie in the original production of Oklahoma!, and the classic film All About Eve. She was still working earlier this year. She was 95 years old.

Also, worth noting, when Celeste was 87 years old she married a man who was 41 years her junior.  My kind of gal.
