R.I.P. Davy Jones

Davy Jones has passed away, just 66 years old,  a teen idol from the generation just before I became interested in teen idols. The Monkees, as a television show, was only on the air for two years, but were in reruns seemingly forever, and their music, manufactured though it may be, has stood the test of time.

Why Must Nick Jonas Be So Freakin' Hot?

Angelica Houston understands the cardinal rule of fashion:  a hot boy is the best accessory.

During their heyday as the second coming of Hanson (but not as good), I found it very easy to to resist the charms of The Jonas Brothers.  There was so much about them that didn't speak to me- their  music, their magic purity rings, their TV series,  Kevin's hair,  Joe- that it was pretty easy to (mostly) ignore them.  So, last night, Nick Jonas, 19 years old, and currently starring on Broadway in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying,  appeared on the series Smash, and damnit, that boy is just too hot for words. These pictures don't even do him justice. It's just not fair.

The 21st Century Disney Boy

Here we have Mr. Chris Galya,  who appears on the new-ish Disney Channel comedy, Jessie. There may have been a time when the folks at Disney would have been taken aback by the idea of these highly sexualized photos of the cute guy on one of their kiddy shows, but those days seem to  be gone. (However, if Miley Cyrus where to do something like this, there would be Hell to pay.)

At age 20, Chris has already had a successful modeling career, as well as a role in David Decoteu's god-awful direct-to-video production,  1313 Actor Slash Model, in which he is called upon to walk around for ten minutes inside a large hideous McMansion, wearing nothing but board shorts and flip-flops. Two thumbs up.

You might be interested in Chris' YouTube channel, where he used to make goofy little videos, and does his impressions of famous stars, some pretty good (Regis Philbin) , some not (Betty White).

More screen captures from 1313 Actor Slash Model, as well as photos from Chris' modeling career, after the jump.

Now Playing On Netflix

It always annoys me when a film starring someone I like goes directly to home video without me even noticing.  Such a film is Beware The Gonzo starring Ezra Miller. The film premiered at The Tribeca Film Fesival in April of 2010,  and supposedly had a theatrical release last September, but really didn't. However it is on Netflix now.  In this case, I wish I could report that the movie was great and should have had a wide release, but I can see why it didn't. I've seen this same story a thousand times before- only the details change. It is not really a comedy,  but it isn't quite a drama either.  That is to say, it isn't very funny, and the dramatic issues it raises don't amount to a hill of beans.  Still, it's an hour and a half of Ezra Miller being handsome and intense, and that's not a terrible way to spend an hour and a half.

Just a little reminder that partially naked can be much sexier than completely naked, and that the suggestion of no underwear can fuel a lot of fantasies.

Le Beau Kevin

I gather, from looking at my traffic stats, that a lot of people have been looking at the photo of angelic Kevin Pinon that I posted last Wednesday,  so here's a few more for you to enjoy. 20-year-old Kevin,  who doesn't seem to be working professionally as a model, although he calls himself a model,  has a website where he shares his photos, poetry (in French)  and YouTube videos.

He will also occasionally write something in charmingly off-kilter English such as "I am an addict in candies, and you?"  His website, well worth visiting, is  here.

On A Toby Binge

Allow me to introduce you to a new, young model who I think will go far. His name is Toby Binge, age 16-ish.  There's not a lot out there about him yet... yet... but I just have a feeling about him.  Plus Cecilie Harris likes him, so that has to be a good sign.

My Favorite Picture Of The Day

Thanks to the excellent Garden Shed blog, I happened upon this photo of a French fellow named Kevin Pinon. Despite the wings, I get the impression that he's no angel, thank goodness.

Step One: Look At This Armpit

I hope you like it.

Step Two:  Follow this link to help my friend Erica raise money for cancer research.

Erica and her sorority, Sigma Lambda Gamma, are participating in this year's Relay For Life to raise money for The American Cancer Association. You can help her raise money for cancer research by clicking on the link and making a donation. And please indicate that you are supporting Erica Solorio, so she can keep track of her fundraising goal.

Step Three: Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

The Shared Pleasure Sunday Roundup

Here is a little Sunday roundup for your viewing pleasure.  I would have gotten this online earlier if I hadn't slept past noon.

The usual disclaimers: These photos are web finds, and I do not claim ownership of any of them, nor can I identify the people in them.  All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

Lots more after the jump.

R.I.P. Whitney

Sad news tonight about the death of Whitney Houston. Like Amy Winehouse's passing last year, it would be hard to pretend that this was a shock, but that doesn't stop it from being a shame. Few people reach the pinnacle of success she did in the 1980s and 90s, and fewer still have fallen from grace with such swiftness. You know how much I love my divas, but I can't say she was ever a favorite of mine. I attended a sold-out stadium concert she gave when she was already one of the biggest attractions in music, and Hollywood was beckoning. One would never have known it from her press, but signs of trouble were already there to see; on that night she was clearly drunk, and hostile to the audience- and this was before her alliance with Bobby Brown. The bad impression I got from that evening never completely faded. Still, she had many more career triumphs before her, and I could never be completely immune to her powers.

No doubt we will be hearing a lot about her life that we hadn't heard before in the next few days, and a lot of it won't be pretty, but tonight, let's remember her when she was at her best, a paragon of beauty and talent. She was a legend, and now she's gone, and it doesn't seem right.

On Duty

This is Mr. Kenton Duty,  the 16-year-old actor who plays Balki Gunther, a broadly comic, stereotypical "foreigner" on The Disney Channel's atrocious, but popular comedy series, Shake It Up.  I'm not sure why he's dressed like a background player in an Andrew's Sisters musical, but  he seems to get more handsome all the time, and I have a sneaking suspicion that he's much more talented than he is allowed to demonstrate on the show.  Time will tell.

Ah, what the heck!  Just for fun:

Miller Time

I have noticed recently that a couple of the most viewed posts on this blog are about Ezra Miller.  And I'm so OK with that.

For those of you who prefer your cupcakes with sprinkles on top, allow me to present Australian actor Mitchell Hope.
